Stoneywell, a National trust property we visited on our journey 'up North!'
I have just returned from a relaxing week away with my family. We stayed in Aislaby just outside of Whitby in North Yorkshire. We met with friends in Whitby, We had a beach day at Sandsend, with sunshine and paddling. A bus trip to Robin hoods bay, beach combing for Jet at Staithes, where my husband found a beautiful piece of jet amongst the many pieces of coal we found!

I hope to include some Jet in my work in the Autumn.
For those who don't know, Jet is a special kind of fossilised wood, approximately 180 million years old.
Here is raw Jet, and a piece of polished Jet.
I can't wait to have a play with this amazing material.
